What is Medicare Part B?

Medicare Part B covers outpatient medical care and preventive care for people 65 years of age and older. Also known as medical insurance, it provides coverage for preventive screenings, lab tests, home health care, physician services, and specialist consultations. Medicare Part B also covers durable medical equipment, treatments for chronic conditions, vaccinations, and mental health services. Additionally, Medicare Part B charges a standard monthly premium deducted from your income, with the cost covering medical expenses after you meet the annual deductible. Here at ABear Insurance, we can assist you in the enrollment process for Medicare Part B and answer your questions about the coverage details. You can depend on our expertise to help you navigate the complexities of Medicare for a smooth and stress-free experience.

What Does Medicare Part B Cover?

Doctor Services and Tests

We at ABear Insurance can help you understand Medicare Part B’s coverage for doctor visits, which include regular checkups, consultations, and follow-up appointments to monitor ongoing conditions. Moreover, we will walk you through the diagnostic tests that are included in the plan, such as X-rays, blood tests, MRIs, CT scans, and treatment for various medical conditions. We will also be transparent and inform you of any potential costs so you can focus on your health without worries.

Outpatient Care

Our experienced insurance agents will guide you through the comprehensive outpatient care benefits included in Medicare Part B, so you can get the most out of your coverage. This includes medical services such as emergency room visits for conditions that do not require hospitalization and receiving treatment on an outpatient basis. Medicare Part B also covers physical and occupational therapy when you need help to restore mobility and function after an injury or surgery. Additionally, it includes mental health services, such as outpatient psychotherapy and counseling sessions.

Preventive Services

Keeping your health in top shape starts with preventative care, and that is where Medicare Part B shines. Our team at ABear Insurance will educate you on your coverage for crucial screenings and vaccinations that can help identify and address potential health issues early on. This includes screenings for cancer and heart disease, such as mammograms, colonoscopies, and cholesterol tests. Immunizations like the flu shot and pneumonia vaccine are also included, as they also prevent infectious diseases and can help you stay healthy.

Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

Medicare Part B can cover the cost of durable medical equipment (DME) if your doctor deems it medically necessary to improve your health condition or ability to function at home. At ABear Insurance, we are dedicated to assisting you in navigating your DME coverage options, ensuring you fully understand the benefits available to support your health needs. This includes mobility aids, like wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers, for safe and easy movement around your home or when you are outdoors. Medicare Part B also covers other equipment, such as blood sugar monitors and nebulizers, to name a few, depending on your specific medical situation.

Who is Eligible for Medicare Part B?

Medicare Part B eligibility is most commonly obtained by U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are 65 years of age or older and already receiving Social Security retirement benefits. However, this health insurance coverage also recognizes that some individuals may require medical insurance before reaching traditional retirement age. For this reason, Medicare Part B eligibility can be extended to those under 65 who meet specific criteria, such as a qualifying disability, an End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) diagnosis, or an Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis. Those with disabilities who are not yet collecting Social Security retirement benefits can still enroll in Medicare Part B after receiving Social Security disability benefits for 24 months.
